Default Mapsource and Windows 7 Problems

I have discovered an interesting work around for the problem of Mapsource devouring RAM, and then freezing in Windows 7 64 bit.

My current MS version (6.15.7) works without problems with the new Oz/NZ map 2010.30, but crashes with Thailand v10, and SE Asia v4.5.

I have downloaded the exe file for Mapsource 6.13.7 ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]), unzipped it, renamed it Mapsource (2), and then copied it into the 6.15.7 folder (without deleting the 6.15.7 exe).

You can then use which version you like, by having a shortcut for both on your desktop.

6.13.7 works without problems for Thailand 10 and SE Asia 4.5.

I understand the next upgrade of Mapsource (6.16?) will overcome the RAM issue, and I can then revert back to using only one version.

Interesting solution, but non of these versions works good with new CN EU 2010.31, and what if someone wants to export all 3 maps in one gmapsupp.img???

    Not useful

Very useful for me, as I am happy to keep the 3 maps I mention separate on my GPS/SD cards, and I have no need for the Europe map.

It also means I have functionality with Mapsource once again.

Others may have different needs and experiences.
