Default Downloading map on Garmin Nuvi 200

I have attached the name of the YouTube video that describes the procedure that I used. The website gives more information. The map file is actually about three files together. There is the main image file which is about 1.6 GB, and two smaller association files which are about 6 KB each. The video said to name the entire file gmapsupp.img and place them in a file named Garmin on a formatted SD card. I do not believe that the nüvi has had other maps put on it, it still has the old 2007 North American map on there.

Sorry but I don't know what you might download from that site, we have the latest CNNAM map posted in our maps section and most of the files are tested by our members, so we can give support for these only.
it still has the old 2007 North American map on there
Nuvi will show only one City Navigator covering the same NA area (the one in internal memory), so backup it on pc along its .unl file, remove from nuvi e retry with the newer map installed in sd only.

I think I would rather go with one of your maps instead. Do I install the map the same way ? Where do I go to access your maps?

I tried that and it does not work. I am in the process of downloading the Mega file. Do I follow the same procedure when putting it on the SD card ? I bought a 2 GB card today, it should be big enough for the file. Do I create a Garmin file on the formatted card? Do I change the name of the file to gmapsupp.img ? I want to do this right, my knowledge of GPS systems and computers is limited so I need all the help I can get.

I tried, it is not working. The Nuvi has a screen that comes up and says that there are no maps (I removed the old CNNAM). I changed the name of the entire file to gmapsupp.img and put it in a folder named "Garmin" on the 4GB SDHC card. I am looking at what is left in the internal memory, besides the folders labeled Diag, gpx, help, remote SW, text, vehicle & voice, there are some labeled the following :
Garmin device --- XML document --- 20 KB
gmapbmap --- disc image file --- 5344 KB
    gmapbmap --- file association --- 1 KB
    GUPDATE --- file association --- 5951 KB
    nuvi drive --- icon --- 5 KB

Is there something there that is keeping it from working ? Can you think of anything that I have not done ?

If it's not got current firmware update it as older versions didn't support img files over 2GiB on SD card on 2x0 devices. Also check the downloaded image in GMAPTool to ensure it has no errors: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Sometimes you will need to turn the unit off and on again before it will recognise a newly inserted card too.

Are you sure your gmapsupp.img is not named by mistake gmapsupp.img.img ?

That was it ! I had renamed the file gmapsupp.img.img. The .img did not show up in the file name so I added it, and inside the file it was already named with the .img. It works now ! After a week of this, I am very happy !
