Default how do i load multiple maps onto a new SD 2 gig card? GARMIN

hey all, i got a garmin nuvi 255 and just bought a 2 gig SD micro card and adapter, how do i go about adding on 2 sets of maps being the south africa map and the new australia map, there seems to be about 4 files for each map do i just stick them all onto the SD card??? or do i need to make a folder on the new SD card called garmin then put all the files into it, also i want to add the arnold swartzniger voice command onto my new SD card, so i simply put the same file in also and it comes up or is it a little more advance, please help, this is for a christmas present for my gf im doing this for and basically have to get this all up, running and fully working within 2 days so im stressing a little at the moment

On SD card, Nuvi only see map named "gmapsupp.img" and put in "Garmin" folder.
Map is a single file end with .img , For more than one map you must join them into one.
Voice must be in Nuvi/Garmin/voice ,voice file end with .vpm

So not true! Well only part, I've only known map sets to be in img format named gmapsupp like previously stated. I currently run 2 map sets on my Garmin Mobile XT, North America 2010 and Mexico 2010, and I accomplished this by naming the second map set gmapsup2. As for the voice you need to rename to one of the excisting ones in the voice folder. After doing so place in the voice folder overwriting excisting one, voice folder is located in your Garmin folder.

P.S. Done the same on my wife's nuvi so it works.

Before doing anything, copy all original files of your device to a safe location.

well on some garmin units you can put multiple maps by naming them in the order like this.:
you must set your map name follow these name:
Gmapbmap.img -->base map. you can put your detailed map here too but some garmin units do not route basemap.
Gmapsupp.img -->your map. first supplementary map
Gmapsup2.img -->another map. second supplementary map
Gmapprom.img -->another map. the built in map name. can be used for any map img but on some units you cant select/deselect in map source.

hope this helps. this has been tested on mobile XT and nuvi 1460

Garmin will read into these file and show on screen. tell us if it does not work on your gps unit.

All your maps may save as "\MiniSD Card\Garmin\".

I am using a nuvi 265 with the base map set for North America. I tried installing my first supplementary map on my SD card as gmapsupp.img and the second supplementary map on my SD as gmapsup2.img. My results were as follows. In Maps I see the base map and the first supplementary map, the second map does not show up. Any ideas?

in sd card 265 support just one gmapsupp.img, you can merge them with Gmaptool to one img
