Description: This is the Splash Logo for nuvi 23xx and 24xx EU/US version. To upload it or change it in your unit use the description written by Turbo here:

You need to use the tools RGN Tool and GIR Editor (latest versions). The method is same. Don't know is the logo compatible with nuvi 22xx series and with the Asian nuvis.

The logo was originally posted here:

Use this logo at your own risk!!!! I can't give warranties what can happen to your unit!!!

The link to the logo does not seem to work. The 4.4kb archive is too small.

Don't know. My WinZip can unzip the archive. I have uploaded the file also in megaupload.

Yes, the procedure will work, but the 23xx and 24xx logo must be a 16-bit BM565 bitmap at 480 x 272 pixels in a 480 x 272 frame (no black/white space around the logo as the 37xx). If you want to use a 24-bit or 32-bit bitmap, GIR_Editor will try to convert it. You will see if it does not work. Just click the modified logo again. If the preview is bad, something went wrong. Let me know.

Yes, that is useful information. Thank you! BTW can you say are there other possible splash screen numbers by looking in the firmware? I couldn't get where to find this in the firmware.

I do not think we can find anything without disassembling. Also, the condition why this existed in the first place for the 13xx family does not exist anymore. I do not think we'll see this again unless Garmin OEM's another model.

    @ lolypop

AFAIK this feature in 23xx and 24xx series is unlock via map. No connection with the logo at the moment.

I can tell that ASR on 22xx requires 128 MB of RAM, it won't work on unit with 64 MB. I know because I've seen some initialization code in firmware But maybe with other firmware things will be different. Also I don't think ASR somehow somehow depends on splash number. It depends on device model number, OEM settings in flash and on RAM size.
