POIs Europe/UK or USA/North America POI Question

Just wondering, when you get a new map set they come with several POI's. (Presuming it's the file POI.DAT?)

Some of the maps are quite larger than they should be, but checking the POI.DAT file it is clearly larger than the previous one.

So question is, can I take the large 'Europe' POI file and put it in the UK maps?

Or even put it in a West/Central/East Europe map folder?
Or, switch between North America and USA maps?

    Bob.

I have no idea what you try to reach by making such a mess.
You should never mix files between different maps.
If you are not happy with the POI's included simply collect your own from the various POI data providers on the net

I was just wondering if it was possible to put say the West Europe 2Gig poi set into the West Europe 1Gig map set.
Just to try and utilise a broader set in a smaller (internal) storage space.

    Thanks anyway.

I still have no idea why you would want to do that.
Map files need activation, so how do you expect a file to work inside a map if it needs a complete different code?
Again: if you need POI's don't mess with the map files, get you own POI collection instead.

    Ah, I see!
I assumed that when you 'register' the maps it is the 'Map' alone.
I thought the POI set and other bits were seperate, I didn't know they were all integral with each other :-)

It was a good idea I had to try and get more information on a limited internal storage, but it turns out it's silly!
    Thanks for the info anyway.

    Regards, Bob.
