Default Bluechart and City Nav on same card?

Is it possible to load BlueChart and City Navigator maps on the same card?

I will be travelling to Galapagos Islands via air and sea, landing in Quito, and would like to have the relevant maps on one card. I'm familiar with the technique of choosing and loading maps, but I've never combined them before.

It depends on the device, that you use.
Without declaration of your device nobody can give you an obliging information.

Users interested in Garmin section should add the device model in their signature, it could be useful in helping them when asking for something

It would be possible to make a "mixed" map image with MapSource or MapInstall or to join 2 or more images to one gmapsupp.img with GMapTool. But I can't recommend that. On GPSmap 60/76Csx it is much easier to change µSD cards with single maps.

IMHO! But GMapTool suit very fine for GPSmap 60/76Csx! I never had a problem even with dozen of maps...

I went ahead and loaded several maps onto one 4gb card using Mapsource. Quite a few in fact. I chose BlueCharts from Americas 2008, HSA500L South America, plus land maps from OSM Caribbean and an Ecuador set. All seem to be displaying correctly when choosing to hide various sets in the Map setup screen. When on the water, I will activate BlueCharts and switch when on shore.

I will, however be taking individual map cards, just in case!!!
