Backup your favorites on Garmin nüvi 1200

During a software update on my Garmin nüvi 1200 through myGarmin, my favorites disappeared. I contacted Garmin and they gave me this tip: before the next update (or anytime), you can do a backup of you favorites by connecting the device via USB to your computer. You would then open and access the Garmin nüvi drive. You would then open the Garmin folder and the GPX folder. Copy and paste the current.gpx file to your computer as this is your favorites.
