    cityxplorer Garmin cityXplorer New York City up to 2012.30

    Garmin cityXplorer™ New York City 2011.10

    cm md

    Navigate the big city like your hometown with cityXplorer New York City for your street navigator. This detailed city map provides the latest roads and points of interest for the metropolitan area, plus enhanced pedestrian navigation¹ — street directions that let you use public transportation to get you where you need to go.

    Get the Map Data You Need

    cityXplorer New York City includes the same detailed street data and information found in City Navigator® maps. This convenient download puts the latest street maps and most up-to-date points of interest on your device, so you'll have updated local information for shopping, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, parking and so much more. Click the View Map tab for detailed coverage information.

    Navigate Public Transit¹

    On compatible devices, this city map makes it easy to get around town with enhanced pedestrian navigation¹. While navigating a route, select Pedestrian mode on your Garmin device and then choose which forms of public transportation you'd like to use: walking, train, tram, bus, subway, taxi or a combination of options (where available)². Your device tells you where to walk, where to catch the bus or other transportation and how long it will take to get there. In some cities, data even may be available for transit schedules, such as subway or bus times and routes.

    ¹Enhanced pedestrian mode, which includes public transit information, is available on compatible devices only. Adding cityXplorer maps to a unit that does not support pedestrian navigation ONLY will allow for viewing of cityXplorer maps and points of interest and is not recommended if the city already is preloaded to your device. Only one region can be downloaded directly to devices that do not support pedestrian navigation. Additional regions can be downloaded to individual data cards.

    ²Not all forms of public transportation are available on all cityXplorer products.

    Anybody get the EPM to work? I've read through all the other cityxplorer threads, and have tried everything that's been suggested (unlock map w/ unlocker, generate unl w/ pid=2), but nothing's worked.

    The same method worked for the baltimore cityxplorer as for the roma and paris cityxplorer maps, so i'm not sure what's different about this map. I have a 1350, and based on what's worked, it doesn't look like it should be affected by the GMA scheme. I guess i can try unlocking it with the SD's card id, or putting it on the garmin's internal memory.

    Default Locked vs. unlocked maps

    @bahama99

    We want maps to be as close to original as possible. In that case everyone can use the map and process them in their own way. If something later seems to be faulty in that process you can revert and have the original file as source for another better solution. There's too many badly treated unlocked maps in the Garmin forums with errors and strange sub-files included in IMG versions. Some users use private branding of the mapset name (like "... Unlocked by Kilroy") and then destroys TMC functionality for TMC enabled maps.

    If you want it unlocked you can use one of the many unlocker solutions.

    Feel free to post the unlocked version here later if it's a successful one with full EPM features available.

    @bahama99

    You can use any uploading host that's easiest from your location.
    It could be good to spread the upload to several hosts by using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and/or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Links are deleted fast from Rapidshare and last long at Megaupload from my own experience.

    RAR archives with best compression enabled is a suitable way to package a set of files.

    the unlocking takes less than a minute. is that normal?

    i unlocked them fine, but dont have rar software. is it ok to just upload them like that?

    Since it's a rather small file size it's good enough to upload the file(s) as they are without RAR or ZIP compressed archives.
    It would unlock quickly when the number of map segments and their data sizes are small.

    i'm a noob at all of this so i'm a little confused here. i already unlocked the nyc maps and everything and i tried to put it in the same directory as the default north american map and that didn't work then i tried putting it in a new folder called "map" and that didn't work either. Am I missing something here cause I already put the north american map on there with no issue at all. Btw I have a nuvi 1350t...
