Probably Oruxmaps have only limited support of Garmin img and do not read raster layer. Raster layer support is very limited even for Garmin units. Use raster source for your JNX directly in Oruxmaps.

Yes that's what i did eventually
i used okmap to convert the raster maps, that were used to build my jnx, into sqlite format for oruxmaps

But the use of garmin img seemed to be more simple, unfortunately it does not work for me.

Just for information do you know if oregon 300 can read raster img ?
You wrote that not all garmin units could do it.

Yes! It was the first portable device with support of raster layer and JNX.

    Hello Alexwhiter.
If I undestand OK, with this tool I can translate a JNX file to IMG file. This IMG file is a vectorial map to upload in the Garmin GPS?
I would like to do this with a marine map. I have the vectorial img file with the contour lines. And a JNX file with the image of the 3D.
I woud like to have a IMG vectorial file to upload in my Garmin with the contour lines and a color image like background.
    Is it posible?

    Thank you and regards.

Some of Garmin GPS devices support the raster layers in IMG maps, and my converter creates this kind of layers.
It's possible your device supports raster IMGs. The easiest way to check this would be to convert some small JNX map and to copy the resulting IMG to your GPS.

It may be possible! You need to use Alex tools for raster maps and after that with gmaptool you must make single img files for each map. Then you need to combine single rasters maps with single vector img maps with gmaptool. May be you will need to play with level of each map at next step for comfort visibility.

P.S. I am using Mapsource for loading a such mapset...

    Hello AlexWhiter.
After install all the tools I´m able to créate a .img raster chart using a jnx file.
Tomorrow I will try it with the Gpsmap720. I hope all will run OK.
I only see a difficulty apart of the zoom levels. Is it posible a vectorial nautical chart (contour lines) with transparent background?

    See you tomorrow.

The attached image was my error, Dónt keep in mind.

    Hi Friends.
After prepare a new map (2 .jnx files translated to 2 .img files, and merged in one Gmapsuup.img file using Gmaptool) I probed it and the result is that I can see it perfectly in Homeport (with the map in a SD card) but not in the Gpsmap 720 unit. The unit d´ont read the map and see the SD card like a data card (a card to save waypoints and tracks).
    Two doubts:
    - Is it posible I am using a not correct SD card? I use a 2GB SD Trascend (brand) card.
    - Can the Gpsmap720 read raster .img charts? (Firmware v4.6) Sometimes I use an original G2 Vision chart and I can see some aerial images. So, I think the unit is able to read them but...

Could you give me any advise?

    Tha you and regards
