oh great!!! So at least pseudo-NT maps can be converted to regular/old non-NT maps readable even in old garmin units.

Ps: what do you mean with 'read only'? Nevertheless the answer is NO, as i didn't do anything to the test_original.img, it is an original not compiled by me, i didn't touch that map.

It's of absolutely no consequence, merely my innate insatiable curiosity. I meant read only attribute is checked in windows properties is all. Sorry for the 'red herring':

    test original

PS: I found it was read only because i wanted to check both images in BaseCamp before using in the SP but test_original.img wasn't visible because of MS flag '1'. ImgTool showed it as 'read only' when i opened it to change the flag.

    Hello rOcker,

Are you planning to support the DEM subfiles soon ?
I've got a GMP file with a DEM subfile and your GarminGMPExtract complains about it...
I can send you the GMP file if you want.
Also, I am a linux user so it's not very pratical for me to have only a windows version. Maybe I could help by porting the tool to linux, or maybe you could release the source code.

    Regards.

    Thanks Catymag...
I try to extract some map as I0528D1A.GMP the result is look OK.
    I got 5 files as I0528D1A.tre,I0528D1A.rgn,I0528D1A.lbl,I0528D1A.net,I0528D1A.not
    then I use GMT.exe to combine them together as I0528D1A.img that look OK. (gmt -j I0528D1A.* -v -i -o I0528D1A.IMG)
but after use GPSMapEdit 2.1.78.8to open it the result POI as "?" and some polyline as not normal as picture below.. here! [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Hi,

I have been following this thread on the above subject topic, and i must say i'm impressed. But i'm still stuck as I'm unable to covert mine successfully.
    I have done the following:
    1) convert map to GMP subfiles
    2) processed the GMP subfiles with process-gmp, and it will convert them to RGN, LBL, etc subfiles.
    3) Join the resulting subfules with GMapTool.

But I've tried this and I can tell you that MapEdit is unable to open the resulting map, it says "WARNING: Unexpected format of input data. Text coding 11-bit per symbol is not supported".
I don't know what to do, as I'm not a map specialist.

Maybe this MapEdit message is because some map protection. But I don't know how to fix it.

Look forward to hearing from you
