Default Map Overlay on top of Nuvi existing maps

    Hi,
May I know is it possible to create a map overlay consisting of zones and labels to the existing maps in Nuvi2565?
What software can I use to do that?

    TIA.

Overlay map usually is limited to lines and points, but you can experiment with areas too, you can for example define semi-transparent pattern for area.

There are many tools, free and commercial:
Creating and editing maps: GPSMapEdit, MapEdit++, Global Mapper.
    Compiling maps: cgpsmapper, mkgmap, MapTk.
Editing TYP (skin): TYPViewer, MpaTK, ati.land.cz/gps/typdecomp/editor.cgi
Universal tool for all these tasks: Mapwel.

I tried using the free version of cgpsmapper to create a custom polygon (with hatching) in a single img.
However, the polygon still remains as a solid color without the customised type.
Can any kind soul out here post a sample mp file that can be used to create a custom polygon for me to compile and upload directly into my GPSr?

You have to use TYP file to get transparent polygons. Standard types usually have solid colors in GPS.

What I want to achieve is to just have a single polish format mp file with the customise polygon section to compile it into a single img file for uploading to GPSr.
I don't want to have a separate TYP file and a IMG file to upload.
    Can this be done?

TYP file is subfile for uploaded IMG file. It is not work as separate file! The customs polygon section do not allow to use not-standard Garmin texture, but TYP section in uploaded IMG give you this possibility. Garmin always use TYP too and you no need to worry it is official Garmin tool!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    I see.
I thought I can combine the custom polygon type file with the map file into a single mp file for compilation by cgpsmapper.
So now I need to create them separately: a custom polygon type file and a map file for compilation by cgpsmapper separately.
Then what software to combine the TYP and IMG file for uploading to GPSr?
