No, if you get that message it just means you've got a bad burn - are you using a burner known to work, as they're pretty few and far between in modern terms?

As I wrote many times, it's not all about the burner and the media..huge factor of success is also the condition of the laser lens of your RNS-E unit..If it's worn or dirty, there is no way it will read copied DVD.

Noted - apologies - was simply an offer of assistance if unsuccessful by other means, but will not repeat.

The Asus DRW-24B5ST is what I have and is highly compatible. Use it with Alcohol 120% software. They're getting a bit tricky to find new now, but ebay should find one. Just make sure it's not a later one that they've substituted.

Very true - replaced my transport recently as my laser was failing. Cost 95 incl import taxes and was shipped from Taiwan in 3 days. I would expect a successful burn to at least work on first insertion, unless the disc it's replacing is original and you've no experience of using copied media. If it takes a long time to read it on first use then it's almost certainly a laser issue. Mine had to be properly knackered before I got the software update only message - disc read errors after a short time of use was more common.

nar 2013 maps read immediately 'copied' with hacked 0660 software, i can edit a retail dvd menu and know a lot about copied media, but this is different kettle of fish so looking for guidance of hardware etc, and mostly not spending unnecessary cash. cheers for your posts.

I always use imgburn. No extra settings needed, selecting .mds file and burning with the slowest speed @Asus DRW-24B5ST. All the rest is automatically set by imgburn (followed by .mds file). I don't think that Alcohol could make any difference in case if you don't have any success with imgurn. But that's my opinion regarding to my experiences. Last time I could'd make working copy for Audi A4 2008. No success either with imgburn or Alcohol..Wasted 4 DL DVD's

thanks to you both used the burner Adrian E suggested, used imgburn as janch suggested, just to let you know as for burning speeds, after installing imgburn forgot to change max speed so burnt 2 discs one with max speeds then lowered to 4x, both discs work absolutely fine regardless the burning speed. i think the correct burner is vital .mds does the rest, thanks again
