both drives are capable burning 2-layer discs..even 10+ years old burners can The main question is if any of these burners is capable making a perfect copy. Anyway, I think you have better chance with imac burner. You should try and post the results.

    Thanks for replying.

I will try it with my imac.

Another question, will only Verbatim DVD+R DL work? Or will Arita DVD+R DL also do the job?

Verbatim is one of the most reliable brand for burning navigation data discs. Taiyo Yuden may be the best of all but I've never heard anyone mentioning Arita media discs as successful for burning RNS-E or MFD discs..But who knows, you may be lucky

You need Blaupunkt DX (assuming you have TV on your mode button) but coverage isn't great for Eastern Europe, from memory

Just recieved my verbatim DVD+R DL s, i'm going to try it with a AD-7170A Optiarc drive, because one website mentioned it should work with that drive.

My question is, if i use the .mds file to burn the iso with imgburn, do i still have to manually adjust the Book type?

there is no point for any manual settings in imgburn (changing book type etc..). That was crucial in early imgburn versions, long time ago! Just select .mds, leave all settings default and burn with the slowest speed possible (2.4 or 4x is perfect). Imgburn will set everything automatic. All it matters now is:

    - suitable DVD writer
    - good quality DVD's
    - clean and good shape of a laser mechanism in your RNS-E unit (very important)

I had this problem until a hour ago.

I made a disc on a MacBook Pro but my RNSE would not read it, then decided to make a CD with the firmware update files as recommended on some sites using the files on the disc made, which the system then read and updated itself to 0650 but displayed an X-- as I used the speed camera version

I then inserted my 2015 disc and all worked great
