    Hi,

    TransAlpin 2012 Pro : 651 Mo.
    TransAlpin v4 Pro : 649 Mo.

    But :

.db file 2012 Pro : 31,4 Mo which represent 820 named trails.
.db file v4 Pro : 348 Mo which represent 3971 named trails.

In conclusion TransAlpin v4 Pro is the same as TransAlpin 2012 Pro except the number of named trails for active routing which has highly increased in v4 Pro.

It's not the same. Many trails are away so that it is bader than before now for mountainbiking.
(same problem as topo germany 2012 to v6 2013)

You can read this also in the garmin Forum.

In the alps or middle europe OSM rules :-)

It seems to be another "great deal" from GARMIN's side:

The "old" Transalpin 2012 PRO they are still selling at price 199,00 €,
and the "new" map ("old vine in new bottles") Transalpin v4 PRO they sell at 179,00€ (259 $ in the U.S.).

This is typical GARMIN recycling so far. /kidding OFF

Maybe I'm off a little bit here, but I thought with the Active Routing, you would see the trails which belong to the selected activity. Eg cycling shows cycling trails, hiking the hiking trails, and some paths are shown with both activities, because they are for cycling and hiking.

Trails that are used by the Active routing database are all visible on the map but they will be highlighted in Basecamp and on a compatible GPS depending on the chosen activity. For instance: a dashed grey trail will change in a dashed red trail and a grey cycle path will change in a purple cycling path. Roads that are part of a named trail will also change in border color.
