I downloaded type9 (think for Nuvi200), oregon 450, and Venus 2013.30 Detailed Map with content of old QSI + ISM, why the three documents are the same map file size?
As shown in the table of post #5, there are only 4 different kinds of detailed maps. Both type9.zip and 83803.zip (for Oregon 450) contain the same detailed map with QSI+ISM, hence the same size and content. The Venus version of detailed map with QSI+ISM is derived from the official QSI+ISM version, hence also the same size, but different content as the shifted coordinates have been corrected.

    Question

    Hi,

How could I get a shift-corrected Venus China map?
I download "Venus 2013.30 Detailed Map with content of NT17 (Venus-CN-China-2013.30-CHS-NT17.rar)" and unlocked it.
Then I put the unlocked image to Oregon 400t GPSr (non China version) but I found there is still shift exists.
For example, I choose a POI from GPSr, Inter Continental Shanghai Expo.
Its coordinate in GPSr is 31'12.068" 121'30.029".
But I check the same POI in Google Maps, the coordinate is 31'11.949" 121'30.318"!
There is a quite large distance between these two coordinates!

    If I miss something?
Should I use a China basemap? or 006B082300.bin files?

    Thank you.

You already have the right Venus shift-corrected map installed. If you enter your GPSr coordinates to Google Earth (NOTE: not Google Map) you will find it is exactly the location of that hotel, even with 3D view of the building.

The Google Map you quoted has shift added to it as required by the law of PRC.

    Hi syzygy,

    Thanks for your comment.
It's really the actual coordinate in Google Earth.
This is my first time to use Venus shift-corrected map.
Anyway, it's very useful for me.

    Thanks a lot.

I downloaded type 9, then copy it into a SD card, put it under the subdirectory of Garmin. but it shows" cannot unlock maps". What is wrong? Thanks!

I think you're using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which is for old version MS format unlocking. It's gimunlock.exe that you need: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

You'll need the Pinying map if you want to search in Pinying and not Chinese. It's not posted yet.
