Yes., your unit is US&Eu (hwid 1101)

Is it not possible to delete the gupdate.gcd under .System and replace it with the new one over usb in one step?
Yes., if you like to flash with .gcd so you can delete an old gupdate.gcd in .system and replace with the new one.
But if you use a new .gcd to flash nuvi via sd card (sd card\garmin\) and the same time you have an old .gcd within .system so result is ::
Nuvi will be flashed with a new .gcd from sd card --> reopen with new firmware -->nuvi detect the old gupdate.gcd within .system --> reflashed with old .gcd --> Nothing change.

When something goes wrong. I would copy the orignal gupdate to .System or by the SDCard-Way
No, if you get rebooting loop ., you won't acess mass storage anymore-then you can't flash nuvi back by replacing .gcd in .system. (and I'm not sure nuvi will detect sd card ?!?)
The way to get rid the new .gcd is "to flash nuvi again with original US .gcd via Pre-boot mode"

The instructions about flashing (hard reset, rename of the folders) only affect me when I use the .rgn way?
You should follow the same step by .gcd way too.

    Read your PM.

Ok, I find the the information about how to make a hard reset. But how can I delete the gupdate under .System?
    The steps should be.
    1. Create your own gupdate.
    2. Copy to SDCard \Garmin\gupdate.gcd
    3. Make a hard reset.
    5. Delete gupdate.gcd unter .System (How?)
    6. Rename folders (Voice, Text, Keyboards) (Over USB?)
    7. Make another hard reset.
    8. Rename the folders back to original. (Over USB?)
    9. Hope and pray!?

Ok here is the result. I have choosen the chinese version 2.20. Change my software version from 3.60 to 250 (fw_all.bin) and hwid 1101. Unfortunately it recognize my device still as 3760t. With some additional features but not the whole set of 3790. Any advices?

If you get more features, it means your 3760 changed to use new firmware.
    3750 or 3760 won't get full function as 3790.
Word "3760" in inventory page won't changed because "word 3760" is in deep memory where we can't edit this number.(maybe other expert can do it )

.system is a hidden folder. You have to set your computer to access hidden files.

    The step should be

    5. Delete gupdate.gcd unter .System (How?)
    6. Rename folders (Voice, Text, Keyboards) (Over USB?)
    3. Make a hard reset.

    1. Create your own gupdate.
    2. Copy to SDCard \Garmin\gupdate.gcd

    Then flash new firmware
    9. Hope and pray!?

    Nuvi boot up normally.

    8. Rename the folders back to original. (Over USB?) --> Yes, via mass storage mode

    7. Make another hard reset.

I found some information about someone who patched his 3750 to 3790 with a lot of features. I was sure about a flag inside the system but I thought there would be any firmware who ignores the flag - because of other markets all over the world.
Now I understood much more about the system - I expected the .GUPDATE.GCD would be protected against deletion.

Thank you so much for your help.

Actually there is a different path to modding this units. You need a service usb cable (modded normal usb cable with a resistor), enter the diagnostics menu of the unit, and then you can change it's model to any you like.

CBUG: very interesting information. Which kind of resistor isuse to transform a normal usb cable to a service usb cable? It is easy to do?
So you mean that diagnostics menu is avalaible with a service cable connection?
Thanks in advance for give us more detail about this modded usb cable.
